IRIS Application for TCC code Released on December 12th

The IRS just released the application to apply for a Transmitter Control Code (TCC) to e-file Forms 1099 through the Information Returns Intake System (“IRIS”). You can access the application using the link below:

IRIS Application for TCC | Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov)

To be an authorized user, the individual must have an account and an e-Services PIN. An IRIS TCC can be obtained for:

  • Your business only (issuer)
  • Your business and others (transmitter)
  • Software Developer

* This TCC code is only applicable for the IRIS system and will NOT work for the FIRE system. Conversely, the FIRE system TCC code will not work for IRIS.

IRIS is the IRS’s new system allowing taxpayers to “prepare, file and distribute Forms 1099, and create and maintain tax records”. The system will also provide the ability to request an automatic extension for Form 1099 reporting, where automatic extensions are applicable.
